Watch the ‘Destroyer’ Trailer, Starring Nicole Kidman

In the first trailer for Annapurna Pictures’ Destroyer, audiences get their first look at an almost unrecognizable Nicole Kidman. Although this is not the first film for which Kidman has put on makeup to appear to be something other than her beautiful self, it certainly appears to be a new level for the Hollywood actress known for her pretty face.

Kidman plays Erin Bell, a police detective that has seen her fair share of bad times. In the trailer, the perspective goes back and forth from a younger version of Erin to the older and rougher version of the character. The younger Erin goes undercover only to be traumatized by her experience. It looks as though her encounters with criminal life haunt Erin, causing memories to emerge that could destroy her and the people around her. By the end of the footage, audiences may question whether it is the circumstances of her hard life or Kidman’s character herself that is the Destroyer.

Destroyer is directed by Karyn Kusama from a script adapted by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Joining Kidman in the cast are Bradley Whitford (Get Out, Handmaid’s Tale), Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Warcraft), Sebastian Stan (Captain America: Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War), and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, Stronger).

Destroyer hits theaters on December 25. Watch the trailer below.

Amy O'Hare: I am freshly graduated with a masters in English and creative writing from Southern New Hampshire University. Aspiring to be an author who is trying to split my family life from my work life is tough but I hope to do so in equal parts for a happy medium. I am new to the business of writing and editing, but I am confident in my skills. My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we have two beautiful daughters. My youngest daughter battles epilepsy so I am her advocate in several ways. One way in particular is that I am currently writing a children's book that lets other children with disabilities know that they are not alone. Last fun fact is that our family is also proud fur parents to three rescue chi-mix dogs.
