Watch Henry Cavill in ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E’ Trailer

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for the new adaptation of the 1960s espionage show, The Man From U.N.C.L.E,  as seen in Entertainment Weekly. Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) and Armie Hammer (The Social Network) star as a CIA and KGB officer, respectively, who have to team up to infiltrate a criminal organization with access to an atom bomb. Set in 1963, the movie looks like it will have a lot of the flair from the original TV show.

This is Cavill’s only movie in between playing Superman in Man of Steel (2013) and Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice, the latter of which will be released in 20116. More importantly, this is the first movie for Hammer since The Lone Ranger bombed with critics and audiences two summers ago. Hugh Grant (Love Actually) and Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) also star in the movie, which was originally set to hit theaters last January but is now scheduled for release August 14, 2015. If anything, this bodes well for Hammer and the rest of the cast, as Warner Bros. apparently has confidence in the movie doing well in the highly contested summer months.

While writer/director Guy Ritchie (Snatch) has a lot of experience working in the world of crime, this will be his first venture into espionage. His upcoming projects show he’s been willing to venture away from his typical fare, as he has in the works both an adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson adventure classic Treasure Island, and Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur, in which Eric Bana was recently cast.
