Super Bowl 53 has provided the trailer for the much anticipated Fast and the Furious spin-off movie, Fast and the Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. The trailer looks to ignite an interest in the expanding Fast and Furious cinematic canon. No question the Furious family is tight – but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) kicking butt and saving the world on the side.
The trailer sees Hobbs and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) reluctantly partner up to fight against the cyber-genetically enhanced supervillain, Brixton (Idris Elba). The film seems to be an action-packed buddy film – forcing the testosterone-fueled Hobbs and Shaw to work together to beat the arrogant, evil Brixton. The newly released Super Bowl TV spot gives up a glimpse at some of the internal conflicts within the alpha-male partnership.
We were also given a closer look at just how menacing the cyborg supervillain, Brixton, will be. The self-identified “bad guy” may just be the perfect catalyst to some of the craziest action scenes we’ve seen in the Fast and Furious canon.
Watch the Hobbs and Shaw Super Bowl TV spot above and the official cinematic trailer below. Look for the Universal Pictures flick to hit domestic theaters on August 2, 2019.
