Vue International group managing and deputy CEO Steve Knibbs has announced his retirement. Knibbs will retire on August 31st, ending his 36-year career along with a two-decade-long tenure at Vue International.
Looking back at his career, Knibbs said, “When I first entered AMC Cinemas at The Point in Milton Keynes in 1987, little did I know that it would shape my working life for the next 36 years.” As he prepares for retirement, Knibbs “can say that [he has] had the privilege of experiencing the best moments of [his] career alongside countless exceptional individuals and teams across the U.K. And Europe.”
He reflects on the changes in the industry since 1987, such as using 35mm film prints to using digital projection. In his retirement speech, Knibbs thanked the president of Warner Brothers International, Millard Ochs, who focused on operational quality and service skills, as well as Phil Clapp and Tim Richards for their support, excellence, and encouragement. Knibbs remains firm on the importance of well-run cinemas, inspirational content, and great films to get an audience.
Vue International has said they will not be appointing a replacement for Knibbs. Instead, chief operating officer, Claire Arksey, will join the board along with Stella David, the non-executive board.
