Voice Cast For Cannes Classic’s ‘Goodnight, Lamby’ To Be Led By Chris Rock, Paul Rudd

The film Goodnight, Lamby will be a hybrid between animation and live-action, coming from the mind of director and writer Dustin Yellin.  The short film is produced by Darren Aronofsky (The Whale, Black Swan) and Justin A. Gonçalves, and it will be debuting in the Cannes Classics lineup at the Cannes Film Festival.

Deadline provided the synopsis, with it reading, “Three-year-old Zia searches for her missing stuffed Lamby through her father’s surreal sculpture-a vast world of oceans, caves, and outer space. Her quest becomes a journey of courage, wonder, and self-discovery.”

Chris Rock is set to play ‘Copernipus’, Paul Rudd will star as ‘Papa’, and director Dustin Yellin’s daughter, Zia Copernicus Yellin, will star as ‘Zia’.  Maggie Rogers provides an original song for the short film, following up her Grammy win for Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording.  She was also nominated for Best New Artist in 2020.

The executive producers for the short film are Dylan Golden, Ari Handel, and Nick St Pierre. Primordial Soup, Villavicencio Studio, and Google DeepMind make up the attached production companies.  Director Yellin is a Brooklyn based artist, with some describing his work as “frozen cinema”.  His past work combines, “…object making, painting, animation, and architecture…”, with Goodnight, Lamby set to be directorial debut.
