Vince Vaughn in Trailer for ‘Brawl in Cell Block 99’

A new trailer for the upcoming Vince Vaughn film, Brawl in Cell Block 99, has just aired. S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk) wrote and directed the film.

Vaughn will be acting alongside Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter), Marc Blucas (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Rob Morgan (Stranger Things), and Tom Guiry (The Revenant).

While Vaughn has established himself in the field of comedy with films like Wedding Crashers and The Internship, he has also worked in more serious projects throughout his career, such as True Detective and Hacksaw Ridge. His experience in action films, however, is not a new phase of his career: he also acted in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, a thriller with a comedic twist.

This time, Vaughn will be portraying a man who once enjoyed a successful boxing career. However, those days have long since ended and he must find a new job. He ends up working as a drug courier. While his character is reticent to assume this dangerous and illegal role, the job is preferable to a lack of income and so he makes a choice which will ultimately inform the tone of the film. Unfortunately, it also lands him in jail, where (as the title suggests) he is at the forefront of the drama as chaos continues to grow.

The trailer can be viewed below.

Brawl in Cell Block 99 will hit theaters on October 6th of this year.
