After finding massive success in Dune: Part Two, Austin Butler is set to headline an upcoming Darren Aronofsky film. The film is being produced by Sony.
One of Aronofsky’s most recent directorial endeavors was the Brendan Fraser-led The Whale, for which Fraser snagged the Best Actor Oscar. Fraser played an isolated, overweight teacher who wanted to try to put his life together when faced with the possibility of death.
Aronofsky also penned the screenplay for and directed Requiem For A Dream, as well as writing and directing Mother! and Pi.
As Variety states, the plot for the new feature, dubbed Caught Stealing, follows Butler as a baseball player with his best days behind him. However, he unknowingly gets in over his head with a group of criminals. Charlie Huston, who wrote the original book the story is based on, will be responsible for adapting the book to the screenplay.
As mentioned, Butler most recently appeared in Dune: Part Two as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, nephew of the treacherous Baron Harkonnen. His appearance in Dune came before headlining the upcoming film The Bikeriders, alongside Tom Hardy, set to release later this year.
Director Aronofsky stated, “I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers.”
