The saga continues as Universal Pictures has just announced that two new Halloween films will be released in 2020 and 2021. The announcement came in a short video that says “The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode isn’t over.”

The films are based on the 1978 film starring scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode and Nick Castle as mass murderer Michael Myers. The franchise has quickly become an audience favorite with the most recent film and eleventh installment of the series making over $250M at the box office with a $10M budget and is Certified Fresh at 70% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2018 film version came after an almost 10-year wait and marked 16 years since Jamie Lee Curtis last played her iconic role as Laurie Strode in the 2002 Halloween: Resurrection.

Halloween Kills will serve as the twelfth installment and has release date of October 16, 2020, and Halloween Ends will serve as the thirteenth and final installment and will be released October 15, 2021. David Gordon Green, who directed the 2018 Halloween, will direct the 2020 and 2021 films and Jamie Lee Curtis will star in both films. The screenplay for Halloween Kills is written by Green, Danny McBride, and Scott Teems, while Halloween Ends is written by Green, McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier.
