‘Uncharted’ Movie Delayed a Week

Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) in Columbia Pictures' UNCHARTED.

The Uncharted film has faced many setbacks over the course of its production, and even though we’re closer than ever to seeing the film finally release, it doesn’t look like it’s in the clear just yet. The film will now release February 18, 2022, a week later than the previous date of February 11.

The film stars Tom Holland as the professional treasure hunter Nathan Drake alongside Mark Wahlberg as Drake’s friend and mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan. The project has been in development at Sony for over 10 years in one form or another. At one point, Wahlberg was attached to play the leading role.

“I had to play this very tough, very stoic guy – basically be Mark Wahlberg.” Holland said in a recent interview.” My character is supposed to be a fucking action hero in this moment! Look, I haven’t seen it, so I don’t know if I succeeded in that. But it was an important lesson learned, because, at times, it was less about land a mark and go through this scene and more about land a mark, stand like this and see my bulging biceps… It was a mistake and is something that I will probably never do again.”

The highly anticipated video game adaptation is one of a few being worked on by Sony. The studio is also attached to HBO’s upcoming The Last of Us series as well as the recently announced Ghost of Tsushima film coming from John Wick director Chad Stahelski.

“I think the easiest way to describe the film without belittling it in any way is like if Indiana Jones and James Bond had had a baby, it would be Nathan Drake,” Holland continued. “That is the way I keep describing the film.”
