‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Says She Hasn’t Seen a Marvel or Harry Potter Movie

It seems almost impossible for young moviegoers to avoid watching entries in some of the most popular franchises, namely the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Harry Potter franchise, but it looks like Godzilla vs. Kong star Millie Bobby Brown has managed to establish her career without having seen single film from either. During an MTV! News interview she revealed that she isn’t interested in watching franchise films.

“I’m not crazy on [Marvel or DC], because I’m doing it. I’m doing that stuff already. I want to see something that’s real,” Brown said. “I have so many friends that just look at me and they’re like, ‘How?’ ‘I don’t know.’”

The young actress said she would rather watch something like The Notebook during her free time. She also said she’s watched every episode of the sitcom Friends, but not a single episode of The Office.

Brown recently starred in the Netflix exclusive young-adult Sherlock Holmes spinoff Enola Holmes, receiving high praise for her lead performance from critics and audiences. She’s also known for her role as Eleven in the streamer’s hit sci-fi adventure series, Stranger Things.

“I would love to [return to Enola Holmes],” Brown said. “I’m begging for it to happen.”

No Enola Holmes sequel has been confirmed, but considering the success of the first film it wouldn’t be far-fetched. Brown is set to star in a number of new films including Tess Sharpe’s The Girls I’ve Been, Wanuri Kahiu’s The Thing about Jellyfish and the Russo Brother’s upcoming sci-fi, The Electric State.

Godzilla vs. Kong just opened in the U.S. to $6.7 million at the box office opening night. Brown may still be young, but her career is already taking her to some of the biggest films releasing in Hollywood today, whether they’re the kinds of movies she watches or not.
