Deadline reports that Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman are teaming up once again and have optioned the rights to Liane Moriarty‘s novel, Truly Madly Guilty. Witherspoon and Kidman will produce along with Pacific Standard’s Bruna Papandrea and Blossom Film’s Per Saari
Topping the New York Time’s best-seller’s list Truly Madly Guilty takes place over a weekend amongst six of the closest friends. It explores our most essential, but easily forgotten, foundations of our lives; friendship, sex, marriage, and parenthood. Liane Moriarty has also written What Alice Forgot, The Hypnotist’s Love Story, Three Wishes, and The Husband’s Secret. She has also written a series of children’s books. This is not the first piece of Moriarty’s work that Witherspoon and Kidman have optioned.
Moriarty’s Big Little Lies is already in post-production with HBO as a limited series. It was adapted by David E. Kelley and directed by Jean-Marc. It stars Witherspoon, Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz and Alexander Skarsgård.
The two companies have no problem identifying a story with potential. Pacific has produced, Wild, Gone Girl, and Hot Pursuit. Blossom has produced Rabbit Hole, The Family Fang, and Monte Carlo. Both companies have projects they are currently working on. Blossom is adapting The Silent Wife, while Pacific has Jessica Knoll’s The Luckiest Girl Alive with Lionsgate.
Moriarty is represented by Jerry Kalajian of Intellectual Property Group.
