A24 has just released a trailer for the upcoming horror/thriller, Maxxxine. Maxxxine is the final part in Ti West’s trilogy, following X and Pearl.
Maxxxine brings back Mia Goth in the leading role, and picks up a few years following the events of X. Goth’s character, Maxine, is still clambering for a spot in Hollywood, but gets in over her head.
A string of murders begin, with the culprit dubbed “night stalker” by the news. While trying to catch who’s behind the crimes, Maxine gets caught up in it herself when she’s so close to what she’s dreamt of.
Alongside Goth, the film boasts a star studded cast, featuring Elizabeth Debicki, Bobby Cannavale, Kevin Bacon, Giancarlo Esposito, Lily Collins, and music artist Halsey.
As Hollywood Reporter points out, both X and Pearl made Goth into a horror icon, and boosted her popularity as an actress. Since then, Goth also starred in Brandon Cronenberg’s, son of legendary David Cronenberg, Infinity Pool. Goth is also set to appear in Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming reimagining of Frankenstein.
Like X and Pearl, Maxxxine comes from Ti West. West both wrote and directed the previous two entries, as well as Maxxxine, and mainly works within the horror genre. He also directed The House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers, and also directed a segment for V/H/S.
