A24 has acquired the United States distribution rights for the British horror comedy film In Fabric. The movie was first released in September of 2018 at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was met with positive reviews. In Fabric will get a wide release in the UK beginning June 2019, with the film’s trailer releasing today.
In Fabric was written and directed by British horror director Peter Strickland, who is best known for directing The Duke of Burgundy. The film stars Academy Nominated actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who is best known for her performance in Secrets & Lies. Other cast members of In Fabric include Hayley Squires, Leo Bill, and Gwendoline Christie.
The plot of In Fabric follows a recently divorced woman named Sheila, who is played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste. While living in London, Sheila finds herself visiting a mysterious department store where she discovers a beautiful red dress. However, this dress in particular is the host of a malevolent curse, one that has passed itself down from buyer to buyer over the years. It’s not long before strange and nightmarish things start happening to Sheila, the dress’ evil threatening her personal life and everyone else.
