Trailer for ‘Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am’ Documentary

A new trailer for an upcoming documentary called Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am has just been released. Directed by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and is scheduled for release date of June 21. This is not the first documentary to be made about Toni Morrison, probably because of her eventful life.

For those new to Toni Morrison, she is an award winning writer and journalist. During her life time Morrison earned a Nobel Prize for Literature and a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. One of her most famous works Beloved was adapted into a movie starring Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover.

According to the documentary’s official website this film covers Morrison’s childhood, her time spent doing a book tour with boxer Muhammad Ali, the time she spent with Angela Davis, her writing career, and her work as a professor. The documentary also includes discussions about Morrison’s writings such as he Bluest Eye, Sula, and Song of Solomon. There is also discussion about Toni Morrison’s impact on literature as a black female writer.
