Netflix has just released a trailer for their upcoming heist movie, and the movie is going to be called Army of Thieves. According to Movie Web the premise of Army of Thieves is that it is going to be prequel to the recently released Army of the Dead movie, which unfortunately received poor reviews from both critics and movie audiences.
Zack Snyder, who directed Army of the Dead, will be serving as a producer on Army of Thieves. Snyder also cowrote the screenplay with Shay Hatten.
The plot of Army of Thieves will take place six years before Army of the Dead during the beginning of the zombie breakout, and it will follow the safecracking character Ludwig Dieter, who is played by actor Matthias Schweighöfer. The story follows Dieter as he is hired by a strange woman to join a heist team composed of notorious criminals.
In addition to playing the lead role, Schweighöfer will be directing this movie. The movie’s other cast members will include Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Ruby O. Fee, Stuart Martin, Jonathan Cohen, Noemie Nakai and Peter Simonischek.
Army of Thieves is not the only upcoming movie in this franchise. A sequel to Army of the Dead is currently in the works along with an animated series.
