Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero – Duo Behind Infamous ‘The Room’ – Reunite To Bring Us ‘Best F(r)iends’

Fifteen years after the premiere of The Room, Tommy Wiseau brings us his latest work with co-star Greg Sestero. His new movie Best F(r)iends follows a man who is taken under the wing of a mortician who finds fortune in stealing gold teeth after his family is abducted by ninjas. I swear to god that is the actual plot.

For those who are unfamiliar with Tommy Wiseau’s work, he is the creator of the cult hit The Room, widely considered by critics to be one of the worst movies ever made. Yet despite narrative inconsistencies and strained performances, The Room has endured as a cult hit through the years, keeping a devout, nearly The Rocky Horror Picture Show-like presence on the midnight movie circuit.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wiseau said that “After watching Best F(r)iends, your mind will find paradise,” so we have plenty to look forward to. While the trailer makes the film look a little more serious that The Room, perhaps  it will endure with the similar “charm.” Curiously, while Best F(r)iends is being unveiled, James Franco is readying The Masterpiece, an upcoming film that goes behind-the-scenes in the making The Room. Franco directs the project – from a screenplay penned by the (500) Days of Summer duo of Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber based on a book written by Sestero and Tim Bissell. The New Line project – expected to hit theaters next year – features Franco as Wiseau and brother Dave Franco as Sestero; the all-star ensemble cast includes Bryan Cranston, Sharon Stone, Allison Brie, Melanie Griffith, Josh Hutcherson, Zac Efron and Jackie Weaver.

A release date has not been announced yet for Best F(r)iends, so we await to see if the film’s so-bad-it’s-good vibe carries over.
