Tom Holland “Accidentally” Reveals Quantum of Spoiler for ‘Avengers 4’

Major spoiler alerts ahead. If you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War or Ant-Man and The Wasp, what are you doing here…go see them! Then come back and read me.

Fan speculation has been abuzz since the ending of the last Avengers movie. Infinity War saw many of the beloved heroes that audiences have come to know and love vanish into dust with mere snap of main antagonist Thanos’ fingers. Since the premiere of Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp, many fans have been throwing around ideas that the revival of those dearly departed characters could be linked to the Quantum Realm. Unfortunately for Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland, he may have recently confirmed fan theories.

According to Cinema Blend, during an interview to promote Avengers: Infinity War, clever enthusiasts caught wind that Holland mentions something interesting about Benedict Cumberbatch’s (Doctor Strange’s) dialogue concerning the Quantum Realm.

“He has the most difficult lines though. He has to talk about so much Quantum Realm stuff. I just have to talk about, ‘Yeah, man, that’s awesome!’ So mine is easy, but his is so difficult!”

At the time, this information may not have seemed important, but after Ant-Man and The Wasp hit theaters, the context of this comment became more than it appeared.

There are several considerations at play that lead theorists to believe that Holland revealed perhaps the biggest secret of the upcoming franchise film. First, Cumberbatch’s character, Doctor Strange, barely speaks of the Quantum Realm in Avengers: Infinity War, so Holland isn’t referring to any of Cumberbatch’s lines in a movie we’ve seen (unless the dialogue was cut from Infinity War). Second, Ant-Man and The Wasp runs concurrently with Infinity War, and if you’ve seen Ant-Man’s latest film, you know that he’s stranded in the Quantum Realm when the snap happens. Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume that Ant-Man (and the Quantum Realm) will absolutely come into play in Avengers 4, assuming Ant-Man actually joins the battle this time. Finally, Marvel Studios has already confirmed many sequels within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for characters that dusted after Thanos’ snap, including Spider-Man: Far From Home, Dr. Strange 2, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This guarantees that most (if not all) of those who turned to dust will come back somehow, and one of the most likely ways involves the Quantum Realm.

While Holland may have accidentally revealed the biggest spoiler of Avengers 4 thus far, it is also possible that fans of Marvel are hearing what they want to hear after such a big defeat and low point for their beloved heroes at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is in theaters now, and Avengers 4 will hit the big screen on May 3rd, 2019.
