Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Update Coronavirus Conditions: “We Feel Better”

On March 12, Tom Hanks announced via Instagram that he and Rita Wilson had tested positive for the coronavirus. They are the first major celebrities to have the virus. They have been self quarantining in a rented home in Australia to recover from their symptoms.

On Sunday night, Hanks provided an update to their conditions via Twitter, since the diagnosis came out two weeks ago. He wrote positively: “Two weeks after our first symptoms and we feel better.”

In the tweet, Hanks also encouraged everyone to practice social distancing to protect themselves and people around them: “Sheltering in place works like this: You don’t give it to anyone — You don’t get it from anyone. Common sense, no? Going to take awhile, but if we take care of each other, help where we can, and give up some comforts…this, too, shall pass. We can figure this out.”

Wilson also took to social media to subtly show viewers that recovery is going smoothly thus far. On Instagram, the actress posted a video of her rapping along, if not impressively, to Naughty by Nature’s 1992 hit “Hip Hop Hooray”, captioning “Quarantine Stir Crazy. See it to believe it.”

Hanks and Wilson are believed to have contracted the coronavirus in the U.S., or while traveling from there to Australia. It is comforting to hear that the couple is recovering from such a contagious virus, which has affected over 30,000 people in the U.S. alone.
