Tom Ford’s ‘Nocturnal Animals’ Adds Kim Basinger

Kim Basinger has joined the growing cast of Tom Ford‘s Nocturnal Animals. The film is an adaptation of Austin Wright‘s novel Tony and Susan.

Basingner joins a cast that already includes Amy Adams (Big Eyes), Jake Gyllenhaal (Southpaw), Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), and Aaron Taylor Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron). She will portray Anne Sutton, the mother of Amy Adam’s character.

The story will focus on Susan (Adams), who receives the manuscript of the first novel her ex-husband wrote, Nocturnal Animals. The manuscript follows a university professor, Tony (Gyllenhaal), as he embarks on a vacation with his family that quickly turns into a violent nightmare from which only anguish and revenge come about.

The project gained a lot of buzz at the Cannes Film Festival, where Peter Schlessel and Ford agreed on a deal for world rights worth $20 million, making it one of the biggest pre-sale deals out of Cannes in years.

Tom Ford will serve as director, writer and producer of the film.

Nocturnal Animals will begin filming this fall and is scheduled to be released some time next year.
