Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla) and Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) will be embarking on a new project: the much-discussed film adaptation to James Frey’s controversial, once-beloved, and occasionally fabricated memoir, A Million Little Pieces, dealing with the author’s struggles with drug dependence. After the scandal fourteen years ago based on the dubious credibility during a few sections of the book, the original project was abandoned.
The Taylor-Johnsons have been married for five years now, and they are no strangers to working on the same projects, having first encountered each other back in 2009 during her film Nowhere Boy. Sam has also directed three musical video shorts for Elton John, R.E.M, and The Weeknd in addition to two feature films. Aaron, meanwhile, has worked his way through the comic book film circuit, supplementing them with movies like Savages and Anna Karenina, showing that he is adept at performances in films that cast difficulties onto their characters. As of now, it looks like Sam will direct the film, while Aaron will occupy the main role in the cast, most likely as the proxy for Frey. Currently there are no other actors on tap to round out the cast. During this time, there is no known release date for the adaptation.
