Warner Bros. has released the final trailer for the upcoming Tom Cruise comedy Digger. The film, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, The Revenant), stars Tom Cruise as Digger Rockwell, an oil man who causes a world-ending disaster as he attempts to prove to humanity that he is the one man who can save them.
In the trailer, we see Digger’s oil rig explode, triggering a massive tsunami which floods a large chunk of the continent. They specify in the trailer that “models estimate causalities in the hundreds of thousands.” Blame is placed on Digger Rockwell, and he is tasked with cleaning it up. We hear the president (John Goodman) say,” Now Digger here got us into this mess, and Digger’s gonna dig us out!”
The trailer shifts focus to Digger dealing with scrutiny from the public in a courthouse, where the world blames him for all the destruction. We see Riz Ahmed’s character speak out about Digger, saying, “Mr. Rockwell is a man who would roast our children alive if he thought he could sell them for a dime.”
Digger is written and directed by Academy Award winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Starring alongside Tom Cruise are Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jesse Plemons. The film was shot entirely in VistaVision. Digger hits theaters on October 2. Watch the full trailer below.
