Creator of Image Comics character Spawn, Todd McFarlane, gave an update about a new movie for Spawn on Revenge Of Comics and Pinball’s podcast. The host of the podcast asked McFarlane, “what’s going on with the movie,” which McFarlane replied, “I keep rejecting the script.” He also confirmed that they are not close to making the movie.
“We need writers who will work with me, I’m tied of giving away my ideas away, sitting back waiting, and they just hand it and I read the script and within 10 pages I go ‘No it’s off base,'” McFarlane added.
McFarlane created the character in May 1992, when he published Spawn #1 to image comics. Following after, in May of 1997, Spawn received a animated adaptation on HBO, where the character Spawn was voiced by Keith David (The Thing). Following a couple of months after in August, a live-action adaptation was created, which starred Michael Jai White as Spawn. Besides the comics, Spawn has only made a few appearances in other media such as a small cameo in Steven Spielberg’s (Jaws) Ready Player One and as a playable character in the Soul Caliber series, Mortal Kombat series and Call of Duty.
No other information has been confirmed for a new movie of the character as of now.
