Tina Turner Documentary in the Making

Iconic singer Tina Turner will be the topic of an upcoming feature documentary, from filmmakers Dan Lindsay and T.J. Martin (Oscar-winning Undefeated), Lightbox, and Emmy-winning producer Jonathan Chinn (Whitney). Altitude Film Sales is shopping the film to buyers at Cannes.

The documentary is the first to be made about Turner. It will feature interviews with the star herself, friends, family, and colleagues in the music industry. The film will feature footage of her energetic performances, and will capture the private life of the woman behind the legend. Turner’s husband Erwin Bach, a record producer, will executive produce along with Tali Pelman of Stage Entertainment, and Will Clarke, Andy Mayson and Mike Runagall of Altitude.

Turner said, “This is the first time I’ve agreed to a be part of a major documentary about my life and it’s certainly a leap of faith! But I’m excited about the process we’re about to embark on and hope my story, presented in an honest and authentic way and made by award-winning documentary filmmakers, will give audiences a true sense of what life has been from my point of view. And if my story inspires people and gives them hope, it will have been worth it.”

The film is set to start production this summer.
