The highly anticipated Tom and Jerry reboot has an official release date of March 5th, 2021. Like many films this year, Tom and Jerry has been postponed and changed their release date numerous times due to the pandemic. According to Screen Rant, it originally was slated to come out in April 2021, and then was pushed up to December of 2020. Now, it has been confirmed to come out in March 2021, and it is said it may be released in both theaters and on the streaming service HBO max.
The premise of the film is about Tom, the house cat who gets disowned by his owners and kicked out of their house, as well as for wrecking their home due to his longtime rival Jerry, a mouse. Now, Jerry has no way to get food. They are both now homeless, and live around New York City. Time passes, and the two see each other again in Manhattan, where Jerry now lives in the city’s largest and most expensive hotel. The film will star Chloë Grace Moretz as the eager to please hotel employee, who is tasked by the hotel manager Mr. DubBros (Rob Delaney) to get rid of Jerry. Kayla then hires Tom to catch Jerry, which never seems to end well.
The film is written by Kevin Costello, produced by Chris DeFaria, and directed by Tim Story. The film also stars Michael Peña, Colin Jost and Ken Jeong. Adam Goodman, Steven Harding, Sam Register, Jesse Ehrman and Allison Abbate executive produce.
