Tim Miller, ‘Deadpool’ Director, to Take On ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Movie

According to The Hollywood Reporter Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool will executive produce Sony CG animated/live action family romp starring Sega’s 1991 Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic is an iconic blue hedgehog who, with help from his friends Tails and Knuckles, runs around collecting items and points to undermine the villainous Doctor Eggman Robotnik. More than 350 million of the packaged and digital games have been sold.

Miller and his partner from Blur Studio, Jeff Fowler will work on the project together. Fowler will make his directorial debut with Sonic the Hedgehog. Neal H. Moritz, who was behind the Fast and Furious series will help adapt the beloved video game into a film.

As for the CG animation, Sony has partnered with Marza Animation Planet, a company owned by the SEGA SAMMY Group. Miller will over see animation and the opening credits. He made his directorial debut with Deadpool, which grossed $782 million at the global box office. However, Miller left the sequel – Deadpool 2 – due to creative differences.
