Deadline has reported that actor Tiffany Haddish has agreed to co-star in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent alongside Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal.
The film is directed by That Awkward Moment(2014) writer and director Tom Gormican. Gormican is co-writing this script with Workaholics scribe Kevin Etten. While his initial feature was met with lackluster reviews from critics and audiences alike, this latest film has an intriguing premise and cast.
The film stars Nicolas Cage as Nicolas Cage, and follows the actor at a low point creatively and financially in his career. To overcome his unrest, he takes a large pay day to attend a birthday party for a fan(Pedro Pascal). The ensuing film is sure to bring a classic Nic Cage action film along with a meta comedic flare.
Haddish is reportedly playing a CIA agent that entices Nicolas Cage to go to the birthday party to help bring down a drug kingpin. A Haddish and Cage combo seems utterly intriguing at this point in both of their careers.
Tiffany Haddish is one of the biggest stars at the moment, over the last two years she has been in seemingly every movie. From The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part(2019) to the Eric Andre and Lil Rel Howery led Bad Trip(2020), she has brought her own unique style to every role. Before the extraordinary amount of current projects, her career reached new heights in her starring comedic role in Girls Trip only three years ago. She is a comedic force and this latest film seems to be another great step in her career.
The film is set to start shooting sometime in Fall and will be released in 2021.
