‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ Adds Russell Crowe in Small Cameo Role

Deadline has reported that former Nice Guy and Gladiator, Russell Crowe, has joined the cast of Thor: Love & Thunder in an undisclosed cameo role. It is unknown if the cameo is related to the other cameos in the last Thor movie, or if it will be completely different type of MCU cameo similar to David Hasselhoff in Guardians of the Galaxy VOL. 2.

This adds to a cast that already includes Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, and many other cameos, recurring supporting parts, and small roles that have yet to be revealed. Crowe will be making his MCU debut with this movie, but sources say that it is going to be a small bit part.

The news is not surprising for director and writer Taika Waititi, who typically tries to pack in as many cameos and fun jokes as possible in his films. This includes a plethora of A-List vampires in his spin-off TV Series What We Do in the Shadows, Matt Damon in Thor: Ragnarok, and himself in Hunter for the Wilderpeople.

Crowe and Waititi’s comedy chops will be certainly interesting to see. While Crowe is not typically a comedic actor, his memorable role as a recently sober PI in Shane Black’s The Nice Guys certainly showed off his comedy potential.

Thor: Love & Thunder is quickly approaching and will be out almost a year from now on May 6, 2022. The film is currently filming in Australia.
