The Worst of the Worst: Razzie Nominations – ‘Batman v Superman’ Leads the Field

On the eve before Oscar nominations are announced celebrating the best achievements in cinema, the nominations were announced for the 37th Razzie Awards, celebrating the worst the screen had to offer us in the past 12 months. In typical tongue-in-cheek fashion, the Razzie’s poked considerable fun at the various duds and bombs that assaulted the multiplex with easy target Batman v Superman leading the way with a dishonorable eight nods, including an expected mention in the Worst Picture category. Other films with multiple mentions include Gods of Egypt (which got tarred and feathered when release for its mostly white cast), doomed sequels Independence Day: Resurgence and Zoolander No. 2 as well as the documentary hit job Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, proving the divisive year in the politics is still taking its toll.

Winners, or losers to be more precise, will be announced on February 25th. The Razzie Awards are selected by 1,014 voting Razzie members throughout 49 states and 23 countries. This is the case for all categories except for Worst Screen Duo, which is voted on by thousands of online users through Rotten Tomatoes.
