Stephen King has done it again, folks. After the massive success of IT (2017), it is no surprise that yet another King classic, 1987’s The Tommyknockers, is making its way from bookshelves to movie theaters. Following different realm of horror and thrill than IT, The Tommyknockers centers around a town infected with violence. As they dig up a spaceship, it releases gas, which causes the chaos perpetrated by the townsfolk.
According to Variety, this upcoming film was brought to fruition by Roy Lee and James Wan, who are producing the flick together. Wan is most notably known for his work as director of the much-anticipated Jason Momoa-led Aquaman set to release this December. As for Lee, he worked on the massively successful pop culture phenomenon IT as a producer, so he is no stranger to the King brand. It looks like this new adaptation of the film will still have strong roots with the previous on-screen depiction, as Larry Sanitsky who produced the original miniseries of King’s story twenty-five years ago is also on-board.
It is still very early in the production process for the film, but there is no doubt that we will be hearing a lot more about The Tommyknockers in the coming months.
