‘The Super Mario Bros Movie’ Passes $500M In The Worldwide Box Office

Despite its recent release, The Super Mario Bros Movie has already made over 500M at the box office worldwide, becoming one of the most financially successful animation features of all time.

This success is only expected to continue in the incoming weeks with preconditions that it will soon surpass another Illumination/Universal film – Minions: The Rise of Gru – which accumulated $942.5M. The prediction seems even more plausible considering that the film has yet to release in the Middle East, Japan, and South Korea.

In total, The Super Mario Bros Movie has made $260.3M at the domestic ox office and $248.4 M internationally, which makes the current total $508.7M. According to Deadline, the top five international markets for the film are Mexico ($40M), UK & Ireland ($35M), Germany ($21.5M), France ($15.2M) and Australia ($14.8M).

Regarding films based off of video games, The Super Mario Bros Movie is the highest grossing, and it has even surpassed Detective Pikachu and Warcraft

The film is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and is disturbed by Universal Pictures. It stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Charles Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser. Check out the film, which is now playing in theaters!
