The Release Date For ‘Escape Room 2’ Moves Up To July, Competes With ‘Cinderella’

The sequel to the 2019 psychological thriller Escape Room will now be released on July 16, 2021, which happens to be the same release date for Camila Cabello’s Cinderella. This new date is almost six months earlier than its original release date Jan 7, 2022.

Escape Room was a box office success, grossing $155 million, and it follows six strangers, who are brought together to play an escape room game, but they quickly discover they are pawns in a puzzle that could lead to life or death. The strangers must solve the puzzles and riddles to progress from one terrifying situation to the next, and they will have to reveal their deepest, darkest secrets to survive.

The plot specifics for Escape Room 2 are yet to be released, but the film’s original director Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan) will come back to direct, and the leads Taylor Russell (Waves) and Logan Miller (Love, Simon) will reprise their roles from the originals too. Russell and Miller are joined by Indya Moore (Pose), Holland Roden (Teen Wolf), Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan), Carlito Olivero (East Los High), Thomas Cocquerel (Table 19), and James Frain (The Tudors).

There are plenty of movies competing against each other in a typical box office but with both Sony Picture movies Cinderella and Escape Room 2 battling it out, which film will come out on top?
