‘The Flash’ – Billy Crudup in Talks to Play Barry Allen’s Dad

According to Variety, Billy Crudup (Watchmen) is in talks to join the cast of The Flash, starring Ezra Miller (Suicide Squad) in the titular role. Crudup would play the father of The Flash/aka Barry Allen. Kiersey Clemons (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising) is set to play the female lead, Iris West.

Seth Grahame-Smith penned the screenplay based on an initial treatment of the story by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the same team behind The Lego Movie. Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) will helm. Production on The Flash is expected to commence sometime later this year and the film currently has a slated release date of March 16, 2018.

Crudup was in last year’s Oscar-winning Spotlight and appears in this year’s biopic of Jacqueline Kennedy, Jackie starring Natalie Portman. The in-demand actor has recently completed filming Mike Mills’ 20th Century Women, Leif Tilden’s sports drama Life at These Speeds, and Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant.

The Warner Bros/DC Entertainment comic book film is scheduled to go into production this year and will bow in theaters on March 16, 2018. Interestingly, Crudup already has some DC experience, having portrayed Dr. Manhattan in Zack Snyder’s 2009 adaptation of Watchmen.
