The Kennedy family will long be remembered as a powerful political family in the 1960’s who were mightily attacked by various people who claimed the life of one of the budding Kennedys, John. Ted Kennedy would continue to carry on the Kennedy name in politics as a senator, but his life would soon change in 1969, a time that is documented in Chappaquiddick. The film has officially released its first trailer. Check it out!
Chappaquiddick will follow the story of Ted Kennedy in 1969, where he faced manslaughter charges after unintentionally drowning his campaign strategist, Mary Jo Kopechne, while accidentally driving off of a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island. The island is near Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. What caused much controversy was the late report by Kennedy on the incident (he waited until the next morning) and that he was working to run for president. A scandal like this would for sure end his presidential, if not entire, political career, which led to his denial of the incident until finally conceding to a two month suspended jail sentence.
The film features a great cast including Jason Clarke, Kate Mara, Clancy Brown, Jim Gaffigan, and Ed Helms. The film is being directed by John Curran with a script by Taylor Allen and Andrew Logan. The film is set to release in theaters on April 6, 2018.
