Warner Bros has released a lot of huge trailers and posters today at DC FanDome, but the biggest has to be The Batman trailer. Matt Reeves’ take on the caped crusader has gotten its most extensive look yet. From start to finish this has to be one of the best DC trailers ever.
The trailer builds beautifully showing off everything audiences love about the hero. Including our first full looks at Alfred, the Penguin, and Selina Kyle, though the trailer refused to show Paul Dano’s Riddler in full, which is most likely for the best. There a great action set-pieces as well as an atmosphere that is created with the trailer. A fresh atmosphere at that.
Every aspect of the trailer breathes new life into Batman. Awhile ago it seemed as if audiences had seen everything there was of Batman, but this feels fresh and new. The amount of characters in this film is a good example of that. While the Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman have all been in movies prior to this one, it is clear that this is a world that is being built by Matt Reeves, and while these characters are in it, they are clearly not all going to be main characters. This is not simply a one-off movie, but a grand Gotham which is being created right before our eyes.
Robert Pattinson also looks wonderful as Bruce Wayne/Batman, while the other cast including Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffery Wright as Jim Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin all fit there iconic roles well.
The pacing, the lighting, and the feeling of the trailer gives more of a Batman: Arkham game than a previous movie that people have seen. The trailer is simply fantastic and the film has to be on audience’s radars for 2022.
The Batman is set for a March 4, 2022 release.
