‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ Tracking For $75 Million Domestic

The upcoming concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour has made history with its domestic box office tracking three weeks before its release date. According to the National Research Group (NRG), the film is set to earn about $75 million with a tremendous upside.

Other sources have noticed this film’s potential for impressive earnings and have proposed even higher numbers. Some sources claim that Swift’s big film will hit or exceed about $100 million launching. One even claims that the film will reach about $125 million. Either way, many research groups and producers believe Eras Tours will be record-breaking material for a concert movie.

While most concert films in the past have done remarkably well at the box office, they have not exceeded this tracking number upon their release date. Justin Bieber: Never Stop Believing holds the crown for the highest domestic gross at $73 million (not adjusted for inflation) and earned $26 million internationally. Michael Jackson’s posthumous concert film This is It is shy of this impressive opening with $72.3 million in domestic earnings and $181.9 million globally. Either way, if the predictions for this Swiftie bonanza are correct, the famous pop star is set to break some records.

The film has a unique distribution method thanks to AMC holding its distribution rights. The theater chain beat other chains and partnered with Variance to freely exhibit The Eras Tour. Most of the distribution community saw this as a win since most films have been put on hold due to the ongoing strikes. Since most actors are blocked from promoting their films, AMC is counting on Swift to bring more to the box office than other possibly middling films. The latter films have had their release dates moved to help compensate for the undoubtedly box office behemoth.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is slated to be released on October 13th.
