Sydney Sweeney Starring In Horror Film ‘Immaculate’ Acquired By Neon And Produced By Black Bear

The upcoming horror film Immaculate starring Sydney Sweeney has been acquired by Neon and produced with both Black Bear and Middle Child Pictures. The release date is not yet determined.

Directed by Michael Mohan (The Voyeurs) and written by Andrew Lobel, Sweeney plays Cecilia, a religious woman who is welcomed at a convent in the European countryside that, unbeknownst to her, harbors sinister secrets. Alongside Sweeney, the cast also features Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus), Alvaro Morte (Money Heist), Benedetta Porcaroli (Baby), and Dora Romano (The Hand of God).

The project was developed by Jonathan Davino, Middle Child Pictures’ David Bernad, and Sweeney herself who had worked on The White Lotus with the latter and will produce for Fifty-Fifty Films. Producers also included Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler for Black Bear– which financed and represented the sales rights– with Christopher Casanova, John Friedberg, and Will Greenfield (Euphoria) as executive producers.

The deal was negotiated by Jason Wald, the vice president of acquisitions & production of Neon with CAA Media Finance and Paradigm. The film marks the second recent Neon and Black Bear collab next to Michael Mann’s Ferrari, which releases on Christmas Day. In 2024, the studio will release David Robert Mitchell’s sequel They Follow, Sean Baker’s romance film Anora, and Pamela Adlon’s directorial debut Babes. Other upcoming projects developed by Neon and Black Bear include Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs, starring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe, and Asif Kapadia’s 2073.
