Sydney Sweeney-Led Horror ‘Immaculate’ Trailer Released

Neon has just released the trailer for the Sydney Sweeney-led psychological thriller ImmaculateDirected by Michael Mohan from a screenplay by Andrew Lobel, the plot follows Sydney Sweeny’s character Cecilia, a religious woman of devout faith who moves into an Italian convent that seems picturesque but harbors terrifying secrets.

The trailer reveals Cecilia’s mysterious pregnancy, deemed “a miracle.” But soon after this revelation, things turn for the worse as Cecilia and the convent spiral down into paranoia and insanity. With the jumpscares, high-octane chase scenes, and religious visuals, the trailer promises a sinister film full of suspenseful thrills; the inextricable link between Catholicism and horror is present in Immaculate. Sweeney, who produced the thriller, shows her dramatic range, making her worthy of stepping into the horror genre and possibly becoming the next scream queen.

Alongside Sweeney, the cast includes Àlvaro Morte, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli, Simona Tabasco, Benedetta Porcaroli, and Giampiero Judica. Mohan, who has previously worked with Sweeney on past projects such as 2018’s series Everything Sucks! and 2021’s The Voyeurs, is the co-creator. 

Sweeney is also set to appear alongside Dakota Johnson in the new Marvel film Madame Web, which has a release date of February 14. 

Immaculate will have a theatrical release on March 22.
