According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brandon Routh, who is most notable for his role in the CW TV series, Legends of Tomorrow as well as 2006’s Superman Returns has just signed on to portray Czar Nicolas in the upcoming live-action Anastasia.
The role of the Russian Princess Anastasia will be played by actress Emily Carey, who took on the role of young Diana in the blockbuster hit, Wonder Woman last year and Amiah Miller, from War of the Planet of the Apes as well as Lights Out will be playing Megan.
Blake Harris who is also responsible for the upcoming-live action, The Little Mermaid, will direct this Russian princess movie. It’s not to be confused with the classic animated movie, starring Meg Ryan, or the Broadway stage musical it spawned. The film will follow the story of Anastasia Romanov in 1917 during a time of beckoning danger and upcoming revolution. This time, she avoids her gruesome death through time-travel. Upon seeing a portal, she crosses through it, stepping out on the other side in America during the year 1988.
