Sony made a splash signing as its upcoming film Venom 2 just acquired Stephen Graham as part of its cast, according to Deadline. Directed by Andy Serkis, Graham will be joining an already established cast featuring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson and Naomie Harris, all of whom will be reprising their previous roles from 2018’s surprise box office success Venom.
A British native, Graham has maintained an array of high profile roles in the past. The actor portrayed iconic bootlegger Al Capone in the critically-acclaimed HBO series Boardwalk Empire and recently shined in his performance of Tony ‘Pro’ Provenzano in Martin Scorsese’s recent mob feature The Irishman, currently a frontrunner for award season. Graham can also be seen next in the upcoming World War II Tom Hanks vehicle Greyhound, which is schedule to be released May 8, 2020. Some of the actor’s other credits include Gangs of New York, Snatch, The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Rocketman. Graham is represented by Independent Talent.
The sequel to the $855 million grossing film will be produced by a team consisting of Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker. The film is currently set for an October 2, 2020 release date.
