Recently, actor Numan Acar joined the cast of Spider-Man: Far From Home and it looks like the excitement may have already landed him in hot water. Acar, who is rumored to be playing classic Spider-Man villain Chameleon, hit Instagram few days ago and made a post identifying other unconfirmed cast members who would join him on set. Acar hints that he will be starring alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Cobie Smulders.

As noted by Comicbook.com, Acar shared photo of himself on his Instagram page and listed numerous hashtags in his post, which have since been deleted. As you can see, the hashtags careen from confirmed stars such as Tom Holland (Spider-Man) to unconfirmed inclusions like Jake Gyllenhaal (rumored to play villain Mysterio). He also lists Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Smulders (Maria Hill), who fans last saw in an unfortunate post-credits scene in Avengers: Infinity War. It appears that Acar realized that he spilled the beans on information that shouldn’t be public knowledge yet, and he quickly deleted the hashtags.
Acar is rumored to play Dmitri Smerdyakov, aka Chameleon, in Far From Home. Smerdyakov is a talented spy and master of disguise with a uniquely smooth and featureless face. Hopefully he’s better at keeping a low profile in the film than his Intagram-using counterpart in the real world.
Spoilers ahead! So why does it matter if Jackson and Smulders are in Spider-Man: Far From Home? Well, given that they burst to dust (along with half of the population of Earth) at the end of Infinity War, their return lends credence to the theory that all dusted characters will return from the dead. As we saw, even seemingly safe superheroes like Spider-Man and Black Panther dusted when Thanos snapped his fingers, so one would assume that the remaining Avengers will find a way (via the Quantum Realm, or the Time Stone, or Captain Marvel throwing planets around) to erase the effects of The Snap. Also, with the stakes so high in Avengers 4, it’s unlikely that Fury and Hill (mere S.H.I.E.L.D. agents without super powers) could assist in defeating Thanos, so seeing them back onscreen after the conclusion of the 4th Avengers film makes sense.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is now filming. It hits theaters approximately two months after the release of Avengers 4, so if our heroes prevail in that film, you can probably expect to see Spidey, Fury, and Hill in non-dust form on July 5, 2019.
