‘Riddick: Furya’ Confirmed To Begin Production

Vin Diesel is returning to sci-fi with his upcoming film, Riddick: Furya. Furya is on track to begin filming in August.

The new Riddick: Furya is the fourth film in the ongoing Riddick franchise. The series kicked off in 2000 with Pitch Black and was followed by The Chronicles Of Riddick in 2004 and later by Riddick in 2013

Furya is set to bring the main character back to his home world, aiding others of his species to fight off a terrifying creature that threatens their world.

Director of the first three films, David Twohy, is returning to helm the new installment. Vin Diesel is also back in the starring role and producing credit, which he has had on the series since Chronicles Of Riddick.

As the Hollywood Reporter notes, the box office gross of the series was tumultuous as the films went on. The first film made roughly $53 million in its 2000 release, off a reported budget of $23 million. But the second film, with a much higher budget of $100 million, only pulled in $115 million worldwide. However, Diesel did manage to acquire the rights for the films and was able to put out 2013’s Riddick

Riddick: Furya currently has no set release date.
