Spider-Man Brand New Day will be officially be swinging into IMAX theaters on August 7. The news comes from a post by IMAX on X, which reads, “Pretend you’re not the happiest you’ve ever been in your entire life that #SpiderManBrandNewDay is coming to IMAX August 7. Tickets on sale tomorrow.” The movie was released on July 31st, and has since broken numerous box office records according to Collider. The movie beat Avengers: Endgame’s domestic box office opening of 157 million by making 168 million opening weekend.
The movie sees the return of Tom Holland as Spider-Man after his last appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which released back in 2021. The movie takes place a couple of years after the last entry, with Spider-Man fighting crime at a street-level compared to the intergalactic enemies he faced with the Avengers. The character begins to struggle with balancing his crime fighting with his personal life, spiraling into a depression as he has never felt more alone. Zendaya also returns as Mj, who was Spider-Man’s love interest for three films but, due to Dr Strange’s hand, she along with everyone else has forgotten who Peter Parker is. Jon Bernthal appears as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo also appears as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the film.
