Sony’s ‘Mulan’ Enlists ‘Game of Thrones’ Director Alex Graves

Adding to Disney’s live-action Mulan, currently in pre-production, Sony Pictures is also throwing its hat into the ring. According to Deadline, Sony is also planning a live-action Mulan based movie. It will be based on the same tale that they Disney movie is set on, that being the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, a woman warrior who takes her elder father’s place to save all of China from the Hun invasion.

This film is set to be targeted to an international audience and therefore will likely see some production and creative differences from Disney’s project. It is co-produced by Chinese film studios and will also star a Chinese lead who is yet to be determined. The script is being written by Jason Keller and produced by Doug Belgrad.

Alex Graves, a successful TV director, will take on Mulan for Sony. Graves is mostly known for Game of Thrones, and has also directed episodes of Homeland, Bloodline and Shameless.
