Sony Rom-Com ‘The Broken Hearts Gallery’ Delayed Indefinitely After Multiple Postponements

The release of The Broken Hearts Gallery, Sony Pictures’ new romantic comedy executive produced by Selena Gomez, has been delayed indefinitely. It follows similar news that Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated Tenet has been removed from the Warner Bros. release calendar.

After initially being set to arrive in theaters on July 10, The Broken Hearts Gallery went through several postponements, finally landing on a premiere date of August 7. With the new delay, this will be the fourth time Sony has postponed the film. While the studio has not disclosed any new plans regarding launching the film, like Nolan and Warner Bros. with Tenet, Sony remains determined to open it on the big screen despite the many delays.

With the future of Tenet in theaters still unclear, this currently leaves Mulan to be the first tentpole to debut in theaters. However, each time Tenet is delayed, it causes a domino effect for other films to follow suit. Especially with theaters in Los Angeles and New York, the largest two moviegoing markets in the United States still closed, industry experts aren’t optimistic about the likelihood of the Disney film’s August 21 release date.

The Broken Hearts Gallery, starring Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers, Bad Education) and Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things), is romantic comedy about a heartbroken New Yorker who learns to let go of and heal from her hurt by opening up an exhibit filled with keepsakes from past relationships. It is written and directed by Natalie Krinsky and also includes Utkarsh Ambudkar, Molly Gordon, Phillipa Soo and Ego Nwodim on the cast.
