Short Film ‘The Present’ Earns Outstanding Success

Independently made animated short film The Present has been awarded with 59 awards since it’s reveal in 2014 where it was first shown in the International Festival of Animation Cinema and Comics. The story follows Jake as he receives a present from his mother, a disabled puppy. The story was inspired by Brazilian writer, and illustrator Fabio Cavalcantia’s short comic Perfect.

For the past two years The Present has gotten great awards like Best Animated Short from Summer Slam Film Festival, and Best Animation from the Los Angeles Film Festival. On top of that the co-creators have been recognized for their success with director Jacob Frey currently working with Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Markus Kranzler at Pixar Animation Studios.

The short film originally started out as a graduation project animated by Frey, and Kranzler while they were students in Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The two animators achieved great success, and launched their careers by creating a short film that is enlightening, heartfelt, and down right beautiful.
