Shel Silverstein Biopic Selects James Franco To Star, Direct

James Franco has managed to create fantastic movie about a fairly terrible film, and many viewers and critics see him and The Disaster Artist to be Oscar contenders. Since then, Franco has signed on to direct and star in a biopic about Shel Silverstein, a famous children’s book writer, according to Deadline.

The film looks to be adapted by Chris Schafer and Paul Vicknair from the Lisa Rogak book A Boy Named Shel. The film, to our knowledge, will focus on the life of Silverstein and his story of being one of the most prolific artists of the 20th century. He was a poet, singer-songwriter, playwright, cartoonist, and most famously a children’s book writer. It will be interesting to see how Franco will take his story and make it his own.

The film is being produced by MWM Studios, McG, and Wonderland Sound and Vision, with Franco, Vince Jolivette, and Adrian Alperovich executive producing. The film currently does not have a release date, but we will keep everyone updated on new reveals for the film.
