‘Shazam!’ Star Zachary Levi Responds To Claim He’s Being Recast Amid DC Universe Shakeup

Zachary Levi, the star of DC’s Shazam! is responding to claims from fans on being recasted as the main character amid the DC Universe rumor following Peter Safran and James Gunn taking over as co-heads.

Levi responded after a fan claimed to be “angry” through the social media app Twitter, how the Chuck alum would no longer be a superhero anymore because he believed “he was the perfect casting choice.” The actor added on Twitter, that Levi and Gunn are “close friends.” Quoting the tweet above, another Twitter user wrote, “I want this not to be true because his Shazam is he ONE thing in the DCEU I would absolutely throw hands for to protect. @ZacharyLevi is perfection.”

The actor twitted his opinion through social media:

DC movie fans worry about the future of their favorite actors in superhero costumes as Gunn and Safran usher in a new era in the universe. After Henry Cavill appeared on Black Adam, he was teasing his return as Superman. However, Cavill’s return as the Man of Steel was under the previous regime, when the DC’s new head has other plans for Superman that don’t include Cavill and have confirmed that his “turn to wear the cape has passed.”

Levi will star in the sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods in theaters in 2023.
