Shawn Levy Tapped to Direct ‘Deadpool 3’ Starring Ryan Reynolds

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Deadpool 3 is in active development and has nearly secured a director with Shawn Levy, most known for his previous work with Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project, which released today. Reynolds will return to play Deadpool. While THR noted that negotiations had not been finalized, Reynolds took to Twitter to confirm the news himself and that the third film in his Shawn Levy trilogy would “be a tad more stabby.”

The Deadpool films are known as raunchy and comedic superhero films and fans have been clamoring for more ever since the 2018 sequel, Deadpool 2, released to high praise. The first Deadpool film was directed by Tim Miller (Sonic the Hedgehog) while the sequel was directed by David Leitch (Bullet Train). Reynolds produced as well as starred in both films. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are also set to return to pen the script. Shawn Levy is also known for his work on the critically acclaimed Netflix series Stranger Things, which is returning for a fourth season this summer. He has also directed Real Steel and the Night at the Museum films. His history working with Reynolds and the pair’s continual success is sure to bring a fresh yet authentic perspective to the third Deadpool installment.
