Sharp Corner a film by Jason Buxton is one of a few movies that Neon Intl. has added to its European Film Market. The feature starring the talented Cobie Smulders (” How I Met Your Mother”) and Ben Foster (” Leave No Trace”) is based on a story from Russell Wangersky’s Giller Prize short collection “Whirl Away.”
Buxton’s Sharp Corner tells the story of a family man whose obsessive quest to save victims of an car accident that happened at the corner of his house. This movie is Wangersky second film after his first feature debut Blackbird, which won best feature in Toronto and the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes Écrans Juniors. Neon Intl. which is the sales arm of Neon began last year and will be launching this feature for sale in Berlin.
According to Variety, “The film, a Canadian Irish co-production, is produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada, the Canada Media Fund, Screen Nova Scotia, Ontario Creates and in association with Bell Media/Crave”. Alongside Sharp Corner in Neon Intl. the lineup includes Steven Soderbergh’s “Presence” and Ben Shirinian’s “The Housewife,” which also stars Naomi Watts, Tye Sheridan, Norman Reedus, and Michael Imperioli.
