After the surprise success at the box office, it’s no surprise that Paramount has announced that a sequel is in the works, according to Cinelinx. The news was happily revealed at this year’s CinemaCon, where all major studios hype up their films with sequel announcements.
Still, there are several factors up in the air, and fans might have to be cautious about director John Kransinski’s involvement in the sequel. While he obviously has great passion for the movie, he has not officially been locked into sequel, though fans shouldn’t automatically panic, as there’s still plenty of time for details to be ironed out. After all, the first film is in theaters still! As of now, Kransinski will be bringing a new project, Life on Mars, to fruition, which will certainly give audiences an interesting new offering. Additionally, it’s entirely possible that he will return, and that the sequel will simply have a longer wait time until its release. Whatever happens, it looks like Paramount and its players are dedicated to doing justice to the smash hit film.
